Chris Bos argues business owners across Illinois deserve answers about what they can expect to be able to do with their businesses.

“The top question everyone wants an answer to is when they will be able to go back into business from this coronavirus,” Bos told the Lake County Gazette. Bos is now running against incumbent Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) in the 51st District.

“I think the time for that conversation should be now, but the truth is business owners have been given no metrics for determining when that might be,” Bos said.

Bos argues the lack of knowing has been crippling, robbing owners of all hope as they fall into a deeper financial abyss.

“All you keep hearing are more restrictions and the data we’re being given isn’t there to justify it,” he added. “People, especially small business owners, need to start seeing administrators and legislators lay out what the metrics will be for them being able to reopen their businesses.”

Bos said while everyone understands that the virus is here and everybody needs to be doing everything they can to help get it under control it. But he doesn’t want to see it ruin even more lives than it has to.

“All you hear now from the governor is talk about how we can’t even know what the summer holds in terms of people being able to get together for fun or events,” he said. “We have to create the plan for people to be able to get back to their livelihoods and no one is addressing that concern.”

Bos said he worries what will come of the state if leaders don’t deal with the crisis the way he thinks they need to.

“Our small business owners need to hear that they’re wanted in this state,” he said. “If we’re not thinking of them in the midst of all this, we’re going to lose even more population than what we’ve been experiencing.”
