Illinois State House District 57 issued the following announcement on May 1
I believe in the 1st Amendment. I also believe that people are allowed to disagree. I will always hear people out and give that person the respect that he/she deserves. Until I see signs like the ones posted below. Comparing our Governor to Hitler and using the slogan that was above Auschwitz (Work Sets you Free) is reprehensible. The two representatives who filed lawsuits against the Governor both agreed that these signs were wrong and offensive. But, it’s this kind of hate speech that is continuing to divide our country and is setting a dangerous precedent moving forward.
