Starting in June, Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) will commence residential waste and recycling collection for Village residents who are not currently subscribing to a homeowner's association (HOA) for waste collection services.
According to a Gurnee press release, each residence will receive one garbage cart and one recycling cart from LRS. In addition, residents who have a yard waste subscription will also be provided with an LRS yard waste cart.
The delivery of these carts is anticipated to occur between May 20 and May 27, as per the same Gurnee press release. Residents requiring different cart sizes are advised to register by May 1 at https://form.jotform.com/240945382842159.
Gurnee's press release further informs that LRS will empty the garbage and recycling carts once a week on designated service days. Only 12% of service days are expected to change, with notifications sent via mail. Alternatively, residents can check online at https://www.gurnee.il.us/LRS for the updated service day map.
As stated in another Gurnee press release, Waste Management stickers will no longer be accepted after June 1. Instead, LRS yard waste stickers will be required. During the final week of service for Waste Management starting on Tuesday, May 28, residents are advised not to put out the new LRS carts. They should leave the empty Waste Management carts at the curb until they are collected.
