The Mundelein Arts Commission has announced a collaboration with Tonality Brewing Co. for a fundraising event in aid of the Kracklauer Fund for Public Art.
According to a Village of Mundelein press release, local musicians will entertain guests with 30 to 45 minute "Mini-Sets" at Tonality Brewing starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 17. The venue is located at 169 N Seymour Ave.
In the same press release, it was revealed that attendees can purchase raffle tickets for art pieces donated by local artists throughout the weekend of May 17-19. All proceeds from the raffle will go towards supporting the Kracklauer Fund for Public Art. Additionally, monetary donations to the fund will be matched, with donors receiving back 20% of their contribution as a Tonality Brewing gift card worth up to $25.
The press release further explained that the Kracklauer fund is dedicated to supporting the installation of art in public spaces within Mundelein.
According to another section of the press release, Tonality Brewing shares a historical connection with the fund. The land on which the brewery now stands once served as the village's fire station until its conversion into the Public Works Facility Maintenance Building in 2000. This property had been generously donated to the village by Violet and Aloysius Kracklauer (the namesakes of Kracklauer Park) for constructing their first fire station. When the Public Works facility relocated to its Allanson Road location, Village staff sought permission from the Kracklauers' children to sell this building to a private developer - Tonality Brewing Co. They agreed under one condition: that a fund for public art be established in their family's name, leading to the creation of what is now known as the Kracklauer Fund for Public Art.
