The Waukegan-based Urban Muslim Minority Alliance donated hundreds of KN95 masks to front-line workings and first responders helping to slow the spread of COVID-19, according to local reports.
"Our donors have blessed us with more personal protective equipment than we need, and we would like to pay it forward," Urban Muslim Minority Alliance Executive Director Robert Montgomery said, according to an April 27 report in the Daily Herald. "These are trying times, and we appreciate the hard work and personal sacrifice of all our local essential workers, and we would like to do our part in making sure they're taken care of."
North Chicago Fire Department firefighter and paramedic Brian Henderson noted the need for having an available supply of fresh mask.
"We use masks on every single call, and if we run into someone who is displaying the symptoms, we throw the mask away and grab a new one," Henderson told the Daily Herald.
Robert Montgomery, who is the Urban Muslim Minority Alliance executive director said in the announcement that donors have supplied the community with the protective equipment that was desperately needed.
