Illinois State House District 58 issued the following announcement on June 3
It is not enough to decry racism on Facebook - we need to do more. We need to put in the work for systemic change. We need to make this change in our schools, all our schools, in our health care system, in how we pay taxes and in how we talk to our families and children.
We need to make the change to fight for justice and equity - I want all of you to join me in fighting for justice and equity.
I appreciate the City of Lake Forest for letting us organize tonight and all the hard work of the youth organizers of this event. I also appreciate all of the community leaders, like Cong. Brad Schneider and my colleague, State Senator Julie Morrison, for coming out to add their voices and commitments to this fight for justice.
