Community High School District 117 issued the following announcement on June 5.
We hope this finds you, your families, and your stakeholders well. As you all know, the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged us all to rethink nearly every aspect of our organizations and operations. Given the unfortunate confluence of mandated pandemic preparedness measures and significant projected budget shortfalls, the founding organizations (Village of Antioch, Antioch Community Consolidated School District 34, and Community High School District 117) have decided to move the Connections Community Magazine to largely a digital magazine, rather than a print format. While we understand some of our readers likely prefer the print over digital format, there is a significant cost saving, as well as, improved flexibility and efficiencies to this change.
The new Connections website follows the branding and organization of the physical magazine and also features a digital flipbook for users that want the magazine experience. All of the content that is typically included in each issue will be now published to each of the stakeholder’s sections on the website. In addition to the content found in the new issue, the website also affords each community the opportunity to keep all stakeholders informed on a more real-time basis. If at any time during the next three months, before we work on the next issue, anyone that has information/content/events that they would like to deliver to the community, please feel free to forward it to me and I will post it.
We are currently determining a process to print a relatively small quantity (~100 copies) for each organization to have available for pickup by residents. Because of the sudden nature of how this pandemic came upon us all, it would have been great to make a bigger splash in the last issue regarding this digital transition.
