City of Highwood City Council met June 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

CALL TO ORDER by Mayor Pecaro at 7:32P.M.

1. Roll Call

Present: Mayor Pecaro, Aldermen: Levi, Falberg, Fiore, Peterson and Hospodarsky

Absent: Alderman Slavin

Also Present: City Manager Coren, City Attorney Jablecki and Administrative Assistant Litjens

2. Review of Minutes to be Ap proved

2.1. Moved by Alderman Levi and seconded by Alderman Peterson to approve the minutes for City Council: May 19, 2020 as presented. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

3. Appointments (Mayor Pecaro)

4. Approval of Warrant List:

4.1. Moved by Alderman Falberg and seconded by Alderman Hospodarsky to approve the 06/02/2020 AP Warrant List for payment. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

11. New Business

11.1. Moved by Alderman Levi and seconded by Alderman Peterson to approve the FYE 2021 Budget with the addition of $55,000 to the Police Department 3 year capital plan for training and body cameras. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

11.2. Moved by Alderman Levi and seconded by Alderman Falberg to approve a Settlement Agreement Between the North Shore Gas Company and the City of Highwood Pertaining to Municipal Utility Tax Collection. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

11.3. A Discussion on the Everts Park Renovation. Staff and the City’s consultant (Hitchcock Design – Steve Konters), detailed the major park elements including splash pad, playground, band shall, bistro and public spaces. The Council discussed the plan in detail and encouraged staff to proceed to final design and bidding to include provisions for better access to the band shell, power to band shell speaker locations, playground swings, and other modifications. Staff also noted that City has applied for a pollinator grant through ComEd.

14. Adjournment Moved by Alderman Fiore and seconded by Alderman Levi to adjourn the meeting. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried. Mayor Pecaro adjourned the meeting at 8:47 P.M.
