PRESENTATIONS

2020-21 Remote Learning 2.0 Plan

Dr. Bradford Hubbard and his team presented information on the 2020-21 Remote Learning 2.0 Plan. This information can be viewed on the District website under 2020 August – 2020-21 Remote Learning 2.0 Plan.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

 Val Steres is a mother of two sons attending Oakland. This meeting exceeded expectations. Spring was a surprise but it is clear we have a solid plan for return to school. For students with IEPs, how do we see this being incorporated into their school day?

 Kelly Soder is a mother of 1st and 4th grade students attending Oakland. Considering that parents may be having neighborhood pods for class, when will class lists be shared?

 Miroslava Rousseva-Billard is a mother of three kids (2 at Oakland and 1 at AUGS) it is going to be crucial to be able to have others help so putting kids in the same classroom could be very helpful with the logging on and off. One person supervising a group of students could be losing their mind a little bit. I know the district doesn’t normally take requests for teacher placement, but this will help most people with the shared learning spaces in homes.

 Jessica Gorski is a mother of a 2nd grade son attending Petty. This 2.0 plan is great. Please give thought to working parents. My husband and I won’t be able to help our son the way it looks like we need to. How will these students be held accountable while parents are working?

 Jeremy White is a father of a 2nd grade and K student attending Hillcrest. We support the community and Hillcrest. Both my wife and I work full-time. Our student’s ages make it challenging to stay on task and now we will need to find someone to watch our kids during the day. We don’t want our kids to fail or fall behind. I’m in the health care field and I think it’s important to note that you can be in contact with positive cases and not catch it. We need to find a way back to school.

 Lisa Redmond is a mother of a 6th and 8th grade student attending AUGS I’m concerned that all of those classes and time on the iPads might be too much in a short period of time and get burned out in the first couple of weeks. Will there be an evaluation that if the schedule is too much can we add more break times? My 6th grade student is doing the transition camp now – will there be considerations for 6th grade students to do an on-site transition camp prior to all students attending and have the same option for kindergarten students.

 Christie Hutson stated that her biggest concern is that in the spring my husband and I worked remotely. Now I don’t know if we will have a good enough WIFI signal or can’t login and miss core instruction. Thank you for everything you are doing and we are happy with the school district.

 Kaylynn Fredrick is the mother of 4 students attending Hillcrest. When you have 4 kids with varying schedules it is difficult to keep them on task. Would there be a possibility of taping the class so it could be watched later – when parents are home from work? Is there going to be an updated supply list? As a single income family, that would be helpful if we didn’t have to get all of the supplies. When will the schedules be released so we know what our day will look like for our whole family? Thank you for everything you have done.

 Kelly Dorado asked how will grading look? In the spring things were different. Is it pass/fail? Thank you!

 Heather Wickert is the mother of 1 student attending AUGS and 2 attending Oakland. My concern is with my husband and I working at home being on zoom at the same time our kids are supposed to be doing the same, my kids may be absent because we would all be logged in at the same time and WIFI could be an issue.

 Erin Supalo is a mother of 2 children attending Hillcrest. We are concerned about WIFI connections. We made a request about our children being placed in the same classroom to help with remote learning. We are working with neighbors to create pods. How is this going to roll out and work for our families as people who work full-time it can be difficult keeping kids on track with different projects. With everything changing rapidly, is there a time-frame for evaluation?

 Jacklyn Durnil is a Speech Pathologist at Oakland. Will we be required to work at our offices or remotely?
