Grayslake FPD responds to 50 fires in 2018

Grayslake Fire Protection District responded to 449 calls in 2018 - 3.9 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Grayslake included 50 fires - 28 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and 15 other fires.

In all, the department saw $520,560 in fire loss - or about $10,411 per fire.

The department also received 399 false calls, including eight malicious calls and 391 other false calls.

Nine fire service member were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Grayslake Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $8,704,159 in 2018.

The Grayslake FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 31 active employees and 13 retired or inactive employees, was $46,573 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $1,035 for every fire in 2017.
