Chris Kasperski has no intention of ending his fight for the people of the 31st District.

“The people of this district and the people of Illinois deserve better from Springfield,” Kasperski, who based his campaign against incumbent state Sen. Melinda Bush (D-Grayslake) on ethics and property tax reform, told the Lake County Gazette. “Part of me is really scared to think about what the next two years could bring. I fought long and hard to show the people there’s another way and I would hope Sen. Bush takes a lesson from all this and starts showing up to do her job of representing the people.”

Kasperski conceded to Bush after netting 45% of the vote and 40,000 votes overall. Kasperski had hoped that approximately 17,000 missing votes in the district might make the race even closer.

A retired Army engineer, Kasperski wasn’t shy throughout his campaign about taking on the state’s most critical issues, including blasting Gov. J.B. Pritzker over his handling of the COVID-19 crisis which he described as “abnormal and absurd.”

While Kasperski said he isn’t sure what may come next for him on the political stage, he has no doubt about where his focus will be.

“We need to tackle our outrageous property tax problem, coupled with our underfunded schools,” he said. “I’ll keep an eye on the General Assembly and keep tabs on how they’re behaving. It’s past time we put the voters and the residents of this state first.”
