Rick Todd is being saluted as the lone Parents for Choice candidate to win a spot on the Plainfield School District 202 board.
“Congratulations to all the winners of the PSD 202 School Board race, especially to my friend Rick Todd,” fellow Parents for Choice candidate Ray Pillai posted on Facebook. “I'm proud to call Rick a friend. We are connected through a common bond as U.S. Navy veterans and I feel as if his win is my win. I know he will put the interest of the students first and will have the courage to make tough decisions, a quality that has been sorely lacking.”
As for his own political future, Pillai hinted that he may be done.
“I have always fought against odds successfully and I will continue to fight by adding value to the community and its children in some way shape or form,” he added in his post. “For that reason, I may keep this page open and use it to reflect the voice of parents that feel unheard. I am not going away.”
Todd, Pillai and the remaining slate of Annie Klupshas and Nick Giannasi all ran on a platform of reopening schools for students on a full-time basis.
“I have very little faith in our public school system and many parents believe this,” Pillai added. “The movement against this lack of faith has grown and you will be held accountable, not only by me, but also a growing group of parents that have implored our officials for change but did not achieve it.”
