Mud Free Playgrounds In Gurnee

Keep the dirt away by choosing to play at one of our mud free playgrounds. The Gurnee parks listed provide amenities other than playgrounds including outdoor basketball courts, soccer fields or picnic shelters.

Off of continental drive, this mud-free, turf playground can be found behind Continental Village apartments. A towering rocket ship takes playground goers to outer space, where they're able to blast off down a variety of slides. For the smaller adventurers, Village Park includes swings, and perfectly sized rock wall. Soft turf and shady trees make this park a prime picnic location.

Ravinia Park

Ravinia Park is a great neighborhood location on the west side of Gurnee. Pour in place rubber/turf combination provides mud-free fun for all ages. As part of Gurnee Park District's Master Plan playground equipment was replaced in fall of 2016. Features include a variety of slides, innovative jungle gym as well as artificial turf and ADA surfacing, making Ravinia a perfect addition to our mud-free list. More mud-free fun can be had this park. Enjoy exploring a board walk bridge, which leading the way to a great neighborhood walking path year round.

This NEW emerald gem can be found at University and Estes, tucked within the neighborhood. University opened in the spring/summer of 2019.With a variety of bridges and slides, every age is able to have access to their own equipment. Both tot lot, playground, and swings have turf surfaces, keeping play clean and most importantly, mud-free.

Mud Free Walking Trails, Routes and Paths In Lake County

The GO GURNEE Walking Club has recommended a few local trails and pathways. Many are in Gurnee or throughout Lake County. Whichever you choose, you can get out and GO explore, right in your own backyard!

Tangley Oaks (James Court | Lake Bluff, IL)

This is a subdivision off of Green Bay Road just north of Route 176. The entrance to the subdivision is across the street from Lake Bluff Elementary School. This is a subdivision built on the grounds of what used to be the mail house of the Armor family (as in hot dogs). Now, the main house is still there and surrounding it are beautiful houses and a 2,500 step (1.15 mile) gently rolling paved path.

College of Lake County (1200 University Center Drive | Grayslake, IL)

The College of Lake County campus provide a 2.5 mile path. The path is paved and goes around the perimeter of the school. Enjoy a few shaded areas and plenty of open space on your campus visit.

Hastings Lake Forest Preserve (21155 W. Gelden Road | Lake Villa, IL)

A 2 mile paved path surrounds a beautiful lake. Pets take a liking to this location and are welcome on a leash. Note that there is not much shade here. Be sure to pack sunglasses and your water bottle before heading out to Hastings Lake.

Bike Path By Fire Station #2 in Gurnee 6581 Dada Drive | Gurnee, IL)

Our GO GURNEE Walking Club gave us the lead on this one! The bike path can be found behind the fire station. Trail is made up of crushed gravel.
