Long haul: longest wait for Deer Park inventor’s patents approved in week ending Sep. 11

The longest time between a patent being filed and granted in the week ending Sep. 11 in Deer Park was 2,408 days, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The patent application was filed by ChariTrek, Inc. for a dynamic localized media systems and methods. It was filed on Feb. 3, 2015 before being approved on Sep. 7, 2021.

Though patents are required for inventions and products, the granting of a patent is not a guarantee for success. Dennis Crouch, co-director of the Center for Intellectual Property & Entrepreneurship said roughly 50 percent of patents expire prematurely due to costs.

There were two patents granted for Deer Park inventors in the week ending Sep. 11.
