Q2 2022 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Lake County?

There were 96 offenders living in Lake County released on parole during the second quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Lake County Gazette.

The data shows 89 men and seven women were released in Lake County. Of the parolees, four were veterans, and the median age was 34. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a crime against justice in 2022, and the oldest was a 73-year-old man sentenced for a sex crime in 2017.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Stephen Knighten. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2009 when he was 15 years old. He is now 29.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
