Vernon Township Republicans marched in the Buffalo Grove Days Parade on Sept. 3 over the Labor Day weekend. Volunteers from the organization handed out raffle tickets for a $100 gift card to Chick-Fil-A while walking the parade route. The winner will be invited to the next VTR meeting on Tuesday Sept. 26 which will be held in the Vernon Township Community Center (2900 N. Main St. Buffalo Grove) at 6:30 p.m.

"VTR marched in the Buffalo Grove Parade today fighting for our Republican values of safe communities, lower taxes, parents rights in education, secure borders, law and order and freedom!" according to a Sept. 3 social media post on the Vernon Township Republican Organization Facebook page.

According to the organization's website, the Vernon Township Republicans seek to establish an engaged community of voters. They aim to achieve this by educating, training, and empowering individuals to increase the Republican voter base, elect qualified Republican candidates at various levels of government, and advocate for policies that improve the quality of life for residents in Illinois.

"Our VISION is to be a community of educated and engaged voters collaboratively working to elect Republican leaders who will put people before politics and champion efforts to make Illinois the best state to live, work, and raise our families," according to Vernon Township Republican's web page. "We believe in liberty, equality of opportunity, limited government, and that our rights come from God, not the government. We believe in upholding the U.S. Constitution and in the equal application of the rule of law."
