Jake Weisser, a former Lake Forest resident and caucus committee member, said the current process of how the Lake Forest caucus committee has positives and negatives. The executive leadership of the organization is chosen by the president, and the vice president always succeeds the president.
“As far as it being a good process or a bad process I can kind of see both sides of it,” Weisser told hosts Pete Jansons and Joe Weiss on the Lake Forest podcast. “I do understand your concept where maybe it should be more democratic where the caucus committee is helping select those people. I do also kind of see the argument that having the executive leadership choose their successors and identify those people that really stand out might be better just because they have more day-to-day involvement with certain people.”
“I was asked to be on the executive committee just at the end of my first year and I turned down the position actually,” Weisser said. “In terms of time I was really concerned that I would not be able to fulfill my duties properly because the treasurer has a lot of responsibilities when it comes to filing deadlines, reports, that sort of thing. So that's why I turned it down.”
