10th Congressional candidate Jim Carris urges early voting option in the 2024 primary election

Jim Carris, the Republican candidate vying for the 10th Congressional seat, is urging constituents to be aware of the start of mail-in ballot requests for the upcoming 2024 Primary election. He underscores the importance of early voting through mail-in ballots, describing it as an effective method to cast votes.

“Important Reminder: Today is the first day to request a mail-in-ballot to vote early in the 2024 Primary election,” Carris said on Facebook. “Voting by mail is a great way to ensure your voice is heard and avoid the lines on Election Day!”

As the election date approaches, the Illinois State Board of Elections is encouraging voters to be proactive in exploring the available voting options to ensure a smooth and efficient voting experience. The application period for mail-in ballots began on Dec. 20. Voters can request a mail-in ballot either through traditional mail or in person. All requests submitted via mail must reach the Election Authority by Feb. 8 to ensure timely processing.

Carris stands as a prominent figure in Lake County, deeply rooted in the local business community and boasting a lengthy residency. His campaign website notes Carris’s background in business takes center stage, distinguishing him from a typical political career. His campaign website underscores his lifelong dedication to business endeavors, including legal practice, entrepreneurship, and corporate leadership.

An accomplished attorney, Carris currently holds influential positions as the Managing Principal, Executive Managing Director, and Market Leader at Colliers International. Coming from an immigrant family, Carris’s father’s quest for a better life led him to leave Greece, shaping Carris’s understanding of perseverance and opportunity. Carris’s educational pursuits were self-financed through a diverse array of jobs, including house painting, construction work, dishwashing, and bartending. His varied work experiences highlight a work ethic that has been a guiding force throughout his life.

The incumbent Democrat U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider currently holds the 10th District seat. The district encompasses several municipalities including Antioch, Fox Lake, Lake Villa, Grayslake, Mundelein, Vernon Hills, Waukegan, Highland Park, North Chicago, Park City, Lake Forest, Gurnee, Zion, Libertyville and Round Lake in Lake County. It also includes communities of Winnetka, Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northbrook and Wheeling in Cook County and the municipalities of Spring Grove, Richmond, Hebron, Wonder Lake and Johnsburg in McHenry County.
