The Mundelein Arts Commission (MAC) has outlined its 2024 objectives in an annual report presented to the Village of Mundelein Board of Trustees Committee of the Whole. The commission's plans are primarily focused on public art, sculpture, and S'Murals.

According to the MAC's report, which was attached to the Village of Mundelein Committee of the Whole agenda for its February 26 meeting, MAC is currently developing a Public Art Plan. This plan will outline short and long-term strategies for public art locations, installation, funding, and sourcing.

The same report also revealed that a public survey has been conducted as part of this plan. Internal workshops have been held to discuss these strategies. However, due to excessive staff workload, an in-house plan could not be completed. To address this issue, MAC commissioners intend to assist with drafting, writing, and preparing the plan.

MAC is also considering commissioning a sculpture by artist Meg White according to their report. The inspiration for this idea came from her piece "Awakening Muse" located in Schaumburg, Illinois. Courtland Commons was identified as an ideal location for this proposed sculpture with an estimated cost between $17,000 and $20,000.

In addition to large-scale projects like sculptures, MAC is also exploring opportunities for small-scale affordable public art as per their report. One such idea is S'Murals - small murals measuring four feet by four feet that would be completed by local artists.
