Training classes will begin on Sept. 24 for the Buffalo Grove Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and will run for eight weeks. The classes will be held on Tuesdays from 7 to 10 p.m.

According to a Village of Buffalo Creek news release, village residents and other people who work in the village will train in basic disaster skills, including light search and rescue and disaster medical operations. CERT members aid those in their neighborhood or workplaces during large-scale emergencies or disasters when fire responders are not immediately available to help.

Training will be provided in first aid, CPR, and AED (defibrillator), according to the news release. Participants will also help staff first aid stations at large-scale community events like BG Days. The eight weeks of classes will conclude with a four-hour final on a mid-November weekend.

Contact Emergency Management Agency Coordinator Joe Wieser at jwieser@vbg.org or 847-537-0995, ext. 6208, according to the news release. More information and applications can be found at: http://www.vbg.org/CERT.
