Lake County will use transportation sales tax funds for design engineering services for the Patriot Path. | Lake County Board
The Lake County Public Works and Transportation Committee will hear a presentation on an agreement with HR Green of McHenry, Illinois, to provide Phase II design engineering services for the proposed shared-use path along Illinois Route 137 (Patriot Path) at its Sept. 25 meeting.
According to the Sept. 25 meeting agenda of the Lake County Public Works and Transportation Committee, the consulting firm will complete the Phase II design engineering services for two remaining path segments. The work will be on segment two from Sage Court on the north to Illinois Route 43, and segment three from Illinois Route 43 to U.S. Route 41.
The Lake County Division of Transportation received Statements of Interest and Qualifications from 14 professional firms, with four being shortlisted and presented to a consultant selection committee. HR Green's bid includes $1.4 million for the firm as the prime consultant, and another $347,125 in total for five subconsultants: Ames Engineering, HBK Engineering, HDR Engineering, Rubino Engineering, and Huff & Huff.
According to the Sept. 25 meeting agenda of the Lake County Public Works and Transportation Committee, the scope of the improvements in the design includes hot-mix asphalt bike path pavement, two new pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, bicycle railings, culvert extensions, combination curb and gutter, and storm sewer appurtenances.
The Public Works and Transportation Committee next meets at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 2, according to the Lake County website. The Lake County Board will meet at 9 a.m. on Oct. 8.
