On October 20, 2024, the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists (AAIM) awarded John Brown, Chief of the Traffic/Misdemeanor Division at the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, with the Outstanding Assistant State’s Attorney Award. The award was presented during AAIM's 34th Annual Benefit & Silent Auction in recognition of his dedication to justice for victims of impaired and reckless driving.

During the ceremony, AAIM Executive Director Rita Kreslin praised Chief Brown and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office for their efforts in preventing driving-related tragedies. “John Brown’s leadership in the DUI unit and the collaboration between AAIM and the Lake County State Attorney’s Office are vital in holding impaired drivers accountable, benefiting crash victims, and increasing roadway safety,” said Kreslin. She added that his work exemplifies a strong commitment to justice and community safety.

Chief John Brown expressed his gratitude upon receiving the award. “None of us do it for the awards, but it was sincerely an honor to be recognized with the Misdemeanor/Traffic Division for doing our job in prosecuting impaired driving in Lake County,” he stated.

State’s Attorney Rinehart also attended the event alongside Chief Brown and commended him for his leadership. “John Brown is a fantastic leader within the office. He is a committed public servant and teacher for those attorneys who are just starting their career. I am proud of John for receiving this important award and for executing the office’s vision of keeping our roads and communities safe,” Rinehart remarked.

The annual luncheon hosted by AAIM serves as an opportunity to thank law enforcement personnel, court staff, and victim advocates who work to prevent accidents and seek justice for those affected. This event helps raise funds for AAIM's Victim's Assistance Fund while providing a platform to share impactful stories from supported families.
