FOIA Request Sent to City Of Woodstock Finance Department Regarding Sales Tax Records on October 31, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the City Of Woodstock Finance Department on October 31, 2024. The request was made by us at the Lake County Gazette, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

Our request pertains to sales tax records for the period from January 1, 2023, to October 31, 2024. Specifically, we are seeking a list of businesses that paid sales tax to the city during this period. The requested details include each business's name and type as well as the amount of sales tax they paid.

In addition to this detailed breakdown, we have also asked for the total amount of sales tax that the city collected during this time frame. This information is crucial in our efforts to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to our readers.

As members of the media engaged in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We eagerly await a response from the City Of Woodstock Finance Department and will continue striving towards transparency and accountability in local government affairs.
