FOIA Request Sent to Kildeer Police Department Regarding Arrest Records from 2018 to Present on December 12, 2024

FOIA Request to Kildeer Police Department Regarding Arrest Records from 2018 to Present on December 12, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Lake County Gazette have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) for access to specific arrest records.

The requested records include a list of all arrests made by the Kildeer Police Department from January 1, 2018, up until the present date. We have asked for these records in an electronic format and specified that they should include fields such as the arrestee's name, arrest date, gender, race, date of birth, and the crime committed.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

In light of our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We await response from the Kildeer Police Department regarding this request and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
