On January 28, 2025, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 by us at the Lake County Gazette. The request pertains to copies of all emails and memos from the past year that contain specific keywords.
The two keywords in question are "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study". As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to these records is crucial for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public.
In addition, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information to the public.
