The North Shore School District 112 Board of Education approved the appointment of two new school administrators and promoted a current administrator to director of multilingual learners during its meeting on Tuesday evening. All three will begin their new roles on July 1, 2025.

Enrique Castro has been promoted to director of multilingual learners. Currently serving as the district’s coordinator for English learners and bilingual programs, Castro also oversees the world language curricular area at the middle schools. He has been an advocate for multilingual education within the district, focusing on equity and access for students from diverse language backgrounds. Castro has been with the district since 2014 in various roles, beginning as a student teacher at Edgewood, and has served as a dual language teacher and instructional coach.

Nicole Rodrigo will assume the role of director of early childhood, overseeing the district’s early childhood program located at Oak Terrace Elementary School. Rodrigo brings experience in bilingual and dual language education, having served as principal of the School of Dual Language in Hawthorn School District 73. During her tenure, she oversaw initiatives to restructure and enhance dual language programming, implement strategic curricular improvements, and strengthen community partnerships.

Sarah Yoo has been named associate principal of Ravinia Elementary School. She has been serving as assistant principal at Orrington Elementary School in Evanston since 2023. In that role, she implemented a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to improve student outcomes and helped maintain the school’s ‘Exemplary’ designation by the State of Illinois—an honor achieved by fewer than 10% of schools statewide. Yoo also has experience teaching kindergarten and first grade.

“We are thrilled to welcome these three talented leaders to their new roles and look forward to the contributions they will bring to our district,” Deputy Superintendent Monica Schroeder said. “Their expertise and passion for education will strengthen our mission to support students, staff, and families across our community. ”
