Rob Hanlon President | Community Unit School District 200
Community Unit School District 200 is inviting applications for its Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) for the 2025-26 school year. The district emphasizes building robust partnerships between schools and the community, with the CAC serving as a pivotal platform for engagement.
The CAC comprises 21-37 community members who offer input on educational and district-related initiatives. Its mission is to enhance education for students of all ages by advising the administration and Board of Education on critical topics affecting the district.
Members of the CAC are tasked with studying and deliberating on problems, issues, and questions of public education that impact the district. They then report their findings to the Board of Education and district administration. Additionally, they advise on district policies and facilitate cooperation and communication in educational affairs between schools and the community.
Topics discussed at CAC meetings include school safety practices in CUSD 200, use of technology in schools, curriculum initiatives, and social-emotional learning for students.
Residency within CUSD 200 boundaries is required for candidates. Members serve one-year terms up to five consecutive years and meet regularly throughout the school year. Attendance at meetings is expected, with no more than two missed sessions without prior notification.
Interested individuals can submit applications online by March 28, 2025. No prior experience is necessary; just a commitment to improving schools and supporting student success.
