Lisa Piskule Teacher | Libertyville School District 70
Adler Park’s 5th-grade teacher, Lisa Piskule, has been selected to receive the Award of Special Recognition in the Classroom Teacher category as part of Illinois’ Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year honors. This accolade is one of the most distinguished in education, awarded by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Nominated by Dr. Bongle and Mrs. Miller, Ms. Piskule was recognized for her teaching expertise, commitment to her students, and ability to inspire both learners and colleagues. As a second-career educator, her impact in the classroom has been transformative.
"I’m truly honored, but honestly, I feel undeserving of such an award because I work with so many INCREDIBLE people," Ms. Piskule said. "I would not be the educator I am today without my team. Their support and collaboration mean everything to me. "
She added: "More than anything, I feel so grateful for the amazing students and families I get to work with each day. They inspire me, challenge me, and remind me why I love what I do. "
Ms. Piskule will be celebrated alongside other outstanding educators at a formal banquet on May 17th.
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) sponsors the Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year program to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the state's public and nonpublic elementary and secondary schools. Awards are presented in seven categories: classroom teachers, early career educators, school administrators, student support personnel, educational service personnel, community volunteers, and teams. The program aims to recognize and celebrate the dedication and impact of educators and staff in fostering student success and enhancing educational outcomes.
