The latest update from Almond Campus brings a range of important information for both juniors and seniors as they navigate the spring semester.
Juniors are encouraged to participate in the Junior Seminar during Course Selection. Counselors have concluded meetings with U.S. History classes and will follow up individually with students who missed their assigned day. Families can view the course selection timeline for next steps, and resources are available to help onboard juniors to SchooLinks.
The College Knowledge Summer Workshop is open for registration for the Class of 2026. This workshop aims to assist students in applying to college, requesting transcripts or letters of recommendation, writing Common App essays, and even applying to Illinois State University for free. Space is limited to 160 rising seniors.
Regarding ACT changes and test-optional admissions policies, more institutions are announcing their stances for the Class of 2026. Some schools like Purdue and public universities in Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia are reverting back to requiring test scores, while others continue their test-optional policies. Students are advised to prepare diligently for the upcoming DIGITAL ACT on April 10th at Almond Campus.
Test-preparation suggestions include free practice ACT or SAT sessions at the Warren Newport Library and through Compass Educational Group. Additionally, a special parent-focused webinar led by Compass is scheduled for March 4th at 1pm.
Seniors have less than three months until graduation. Assistance is readily available at the College and Career Center via email communication with counselors.
