Warren Township High School (WTHS) has released its latest newsletter, addressing important dates and opportunities for students as they approach spring break and the final weeks of the second semester.
The newsletter encourages students to make the most of their spring break by rejuvenating, spending time with family or friends, catching up on missing work, or even visiting colleges either in-person or virtually. It highlights various events, workshops, college visits, fairs, and impending deadlines.
For juniors, the school suggests using spring break as an opportunity to visit different college campuses to determine which type of institution suits them best. The newsletter also reminds juniors that April 10 is the date for the state ACT test at WTHS. All junior students are automatically registered for this assessment by the district.
Seniors are reminded about scholarship applications submitted on March 7. Notifications of scholarships and award invitations will be emailed by mid-to- late April. Those who applied should save May 1 for the annual Senior Scholarship and Awards Night in the O'Plaine Auditorium at 7 p.m.
A Financial Aid Award Letter Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18 during lunch periods to help seniors interpret their financial aid award letters and learn about next steps towards enrolling in college.
The newsletter also invites seniors to share their post-high school plans via Instagram or email so that these can be celebrated publicly on May 1.
Additionally, a CLC Scholarships Workshop is planned for Thursday, April 3 during lunch periods for those planning to enroll full-time at College of Lake County (CLC) after high school.
Both juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend college visits hosted by admission representatives at the Almond Campus College and Career Center. Students can attend up to three visits per semester without penalty.
Finally, students seeking employment opportunities are directed towards resources like SchooLinks' Opportunities Board under Careers section or prior Job Board listings.
The newsletter concludes with contact information for Student Services and an open invitation from Mrs. McGahan., Post-Secondary Counselor: "We are here to help answer your questions... Have a great few weeks and enjoy your Spring Break!"
