Deer Park has announced its upcoming Arbor Day Celebration, inviting residents to participate in a tree planting event. The celebration is scheduled for Friday, April 25th at 10 am at Vehe.
The village will offer Shumard Oak saplings to the first 50 residents who visit Village Hall on the same day. According to the announcement, "The Shumard Oak is one of the most resilient trees you can plant in your yard. This tree can withstand floods, droughts and extremely strong winds. "
Residents are also encouraged to plant trees in celebration of their families or to memorialize loved ones. The village offers a cost-sharing program for these trees, with a "50/50 split with the Village. " Staff members will assist residents with tree selections and park location choices.
