On March 10, 2025, the Village of Bannockburn Village Board approved a bid to construct a new pedestrian pathway along Wilmot Road from Telegraph Road to North Avenue. Detailed plans for the proposed pathway are available for review at the Village of Bannockburn Village Hall during normal business hours or via a PDF version online.

As part of this project, the Village of Bannockburn was awarded a $25,000 grant to remove invasive species, including buckthorn, along the Wilmot Road right-of-way. This effort will allow the village to construct the proposed path shortly after removing invasive species, benefiting the community and improving overall aesthetics and health of the area. Impacted residents received a letter with additional information.

For the full press release regarding the grant from the Urban and Community Forestry Programs of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and USDA Forest Service Eastern Region, please refer to The Morton Arboretum’s Chicago Region Trees Initiative (CRTI) website.

If weather conditions are favorable, the pathway is scheduled for completion by Fall 2025.

For further inquiries or more information about the project, residents are encouraged to visit Village Hall during normal business hours or contact the Village office at 847-945-6080.
