Last night, Thursday, April 10th, 2025, the D181 Foundation hosted its annual Young Writers Night at Hinsdale Middle School (HMS), celebrating the literary talents of District 181 students in grades 3 through 8.
The Foundation played a crucial role in bringing the "INKspired Minds" project to fruition. From facilitating registration to coordinating the compilation and publishing of students' writings--including creative stories, poems, informational reports, persuasive essays, and graphic stories--the D181 Foundation championed this initiative at every step.
Last night's event was a culmination of these efforts. The Foundation created an evening where young authors received their published books, beaming with pride as they held their work in print. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and appreciation for storytelling.
In addition to book distribution, the D181 Foundation organized activities that made the night special. The Youth Author Keynote and Interview were highlights, inspiring and encouraging young writers. There were also learning sessions designed for students and activities for their families, fostering a deeper connection with writing and creativity.
A significant part of the evening was supported by the D181 Foundation: the announcement of writing awards. The Foundation recognized exceptional talent within the district by presenting awards for best submission at each grade level in various categories: Cover Designs, Best Poetry, Best Creative Writing, Best Informational Writing, and Best Persuasive Writing. These awards celebrated the hard work and dedication of young authors.
The D181 Foundation's commitment extends beyond hosting events. Their ongoing support enriches educational experiences for all District 181 students. The "INKspired Minds" project is testament to this commitment; it provides students with opportunities to explore creativity, develop writing skills, and experience becoming published authors.
Last night's "INKspired Minds" celebration was made possible by dedicated efforts of the D181 Foundation. It served as a reminder of talent within our student community and importance of fostering love for literacy and creative expression. The Foundation continues to be a vital partner in supporting educational journeys of District 181 students.
