The Village of Barrington has announced its spring hydrant flushing and chipping schedule.
Hydrant flushing is set to take place from April 21 to May 2 between 6:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Village of Barrington, Paganica of Barrington Hills, Braymore, Weatherstone, Glencrest, and Sanctuary of Inverness.
From May 5 to May 9 during the same hours, Abbey Woods and Estates of Inverness Ridge will undergo flushing.
Residents may experience discoloration, low water pressure, and rusty water during this period. It is advised that if discoloration occurs, residents should run their cold water tap for a few minutes until it clears. If problems persist, waiting an hour before trying again is recommended. The water remains safe to drink despite any discoloration; however, avoiding washing clothes until the water runs clear is suggested.
For further information on hydrant flushing operations, residents can contact Public Works at (847) 381-7903.
The chipping schedule begins Monday, May 5 for areas north of Main Street and Monday, May 12 for areas south of Main Street.
Residents are requested to place branches and materials at the curb by 7 a.m. on their designated Monday morning. The Chipper will make only one pass through each neighborhood during the specified week.
Branches should be no more than 10 inches in diameter and at least four feet in length. They should be stacked neatly in a long, low pile on the parkway with cut ends facing the curb. Smaller branches should be placed in green yard waste containers for regular collection.
