"The Village of Wauconda’s water distribution system consists of five elevated

each containing 500,000 gallons of water. These towers provide reserve water in

an emergency and help maintain adequate water pressure. Constructed from steel,

the tanks require periodic servicing, which includes draining, inspecting,

rehabilitating, and repainting.

"Over the course of the next couple of months, water tower #4 off Gilmer Rd

will be taken out of service and rehabilitated," said a recent announcement.

Public Works Water Division Staff have been meticulously reviewing and planning

the project with Village engineers HMG and water supplier CLCJAWA.

Tight scheduling was crucial due to CLCJAWA's necessary maintenance upgrades to

their system and the need to complete work before summer when water demand

peaks.

Recent inspections indicated deterioration in the final coat of paint.

Proactive maintenance is expected to keep the tower in proper working

condition and prevent costly future repairs.
