Carpenter student Genevieve Suh and School Technologist Ben Pfander have been named the D64 Shining Stars for April. Their contributions were recognized at the April School Board meeting.

Carpenter Principal Brett Balduf and Assistant Principal Sean Degman expressed their excitement in highlighting these members of the Carpenter community.

Fifth-grader Genevieve Suh stands out among her peers with her consistently positive impact. Genevieve’s 3rd Grade Teacher, Mrs. Norman, said, “You are always ready and willing to help others at school. And not only are you always ready and willing to do it, you do it with a smile on your face. ”

Carpenter Art Teacher Mrs. Bianchi remarked, “Any day you get to see Genevieve at Carpenter is a better day because she is someone with such a positive attitude. She uplifts other people around her. She's so helpful. ” One of her classmates added, “Genevieve is the best because she's super helpful and kind. Every time she sees us, she gives us a hug and she’s the most supportive. ”

The Channels of Challenge team also celebrated Genevieve's contributions: “You are so dependable and always volunteering for classroom helper jobs, always doing your job with such care. You're a natural-born leader. ”

Ben Pfander joined Carpenter this year but has already made a significant impact on the school climate and culture. He is described as hardworking, approachable, and thoughtful.

Felix, a Kindergartener at Carpenter, said, “Mr. Ben is the best because he is nice and he fixes our iPads. ”

Instructional Coach Mr. Michael commented, “Ben is always quick to respond to staff requests for support. He embraces learning and problem-solving in his role as a technologist at Carpenter. ”

Ben Pfander is considered truly invaluable by his colleagues who appreciate his positivity, reliability, and quiet patience.

Both Genevieve and Ben have made remarkable contributions to the Carpenter and D64 communities.
