City of Highwood City Council met April 2

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

CALL TO ORDER by Mayor Pecaro at 7:30 P.M.

1. Roll Call

Present: Aldermen Falberg, Fiore, Peterson and Hospodarsky

Absent: Aldermen Levi, Slavin

Also Present: City Manager Coren and City Attorney Jablecki

2. Pledge of Allegiance

All present recited the Pledge of Allegiance

3. Review of Minutes to be Approved

3.1. Moved by Alderman Hospodarsky and Seconded by Alderman Fiore to approve the minutes for City Council: March 18, 2025. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

3.2. Moved by Alderman Peterson and seconded by Alderman Fiore to approve the minutes for Committee of the Whole: March 18, 2025. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

4. Appointments

5. Approval of Warrant List:

5.1. Moved by Alderman Hospodarsky and seconded by Alderman Fiore to approve the 04/20/2025 AP Warrant List for payment. All present voting aye, by roll call vote, motion carried.

12. New Business

12.1. Consideration of a resolution approving an ARC Application and two variations for a wall sign, two window signs and a flagpole at IC Signs & Graphics located at 522 Sheridan Road.

Alderman Falberg made a motion to approve the variations contingent upon the removal of the eagle logo in the window sign, with a second from Alderman Hospodarsky. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

12.2. A motion authorizing the City Manager to sign an agreement with Christopher B Burke Engineering Ltd. to continue designating them as the City Engineer.

Moved by Alderman Peterson and seconded by Alderman Hospodarsky to approve the motion. All present voting aye, by roll call vote, motion carried.

12.3. A motion agreeing to an amended fee structure for Klein, Thorpe & Jenkins legal fees.

Moved by Alderman Peterson and seconded by Alderman Fiore to approve the motion. All present voting aye, by roll call vote, motion carried.

12.4. A motion authorizing the City Manager to spend up to $29,995 on regular landscaping mowing, edging, bed weeding and basic trimming through Guy Scopelliti Landscaping.

Alderman Peterson made a motion to waive competitive bidding and approve the motion, with a second from Alderman Hospodarsky. All present voting aye, by roll call vote, motion carried.

14. Any Action Necessary Coming Out of Executive Session

15. Adjournment moved by Alderman Fiore and seconded by Alderman Peterson to adjourn the meeting. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

Mayor Pecaro adjourned the meeting at 7:34 P.M.
