The end of the school year is approaching for Collinsville Community Unit School District as the final day of student attendance is set for Thursday, May 22. In a recent update, Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich took a moment to acknowledge the dedicated staff and supportive community, stating that the successes of the year far outweighed its challenges.

"Every school year brings both challenges and successes, and this one has been no different," said Dr. Skertich.

He attributed students' academic and social growth to collective efforts, emphasizing the importance of teamwork between home, school, and communities.

Dr. Skertich also highlighted the contributions of the Collinsville Area Community Foundation, which has expanded its impact over the past five years by providing scholarships to graduating seniors and contributing to district facility projects. The foundation recently introduced the Community Impact Grant aimed at supporting local clubs, organizations, and nonprofits focused on making a difference.

"One positive to highlight is the ongoing work of the Collinsville Area Community Foundation," Dr. Skertich noted.

Applications for the grant are now open through July 1 with grants up to $5,000 available on a competitive basis.

A significant milestone was marked for Collinsville High School's Class of 2025 as they completed their last day of attendance. Their commencement ceremony is scheduled for May 17 at 10:00 a.m. in Fletcher Gymnasium.

"The Class of 2025 leaves our district equipped with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to chase their dreams," remarked Dr. Skertich.

The graduation ceremony will be livestreamed alongside Collinsville Middle School's eighth-grade promotion ceremony on May 18 at 1:00 p.m., both accessible via Kahok Studios YouTube Channel.

"Congratulations to the Collinsville High School Class of 2025! It has been an honor to watch you grow," said Dr. Skertich.

In closing his message, Superintendent Skertich wished everyone a great summer break while reminding graduates that they will always remain part of the Kahok family.
