As part of the City's ongoing efforts to maintain safe and reliable infrastructure, a routine inspection of the pedestrian bridge that carries the McClory Bike Path over Westleigh Road is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, beginning at 9 a.m. The inspection will be conducted by Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, the City's professional bridge inspection consultant.
Bridge inspections are a critical part of infrastructure management. They help identify wear, ensure structural integrity, and prioritize maintenance-- supporting both public safety and long-term investment in community assets.
The inspection will take place from a bucket truck positioned beneath the bridge, requiring intermittent single-lane closures on Westleigh Road. Traffic will remain open in both directions throughout the process, and all work is expected to be completed the same day.
Officials noted that the McClory Bike Path will remain open and unaffected during this time.
"Thank you for your patience as we continue working to keep Lake Forest's infrastructure safe and well-maintained," said a statement from city officials.
This effort aligns with the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan Connection: Infrastructure and City Facilities.
