Lake County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a serious crash in Ingleside involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) with two children as passengers. The incident occurred on May 19 and resulted in the operator suffering serious head trauma.
According to a media release, deputies responded at 5:35 p.m. to the 27000 block of Chris Larkin Road, Ingleside. A preliminary investigation revealed that the 2021 Can-Am Outlander G2 ATV was driven by a 25-year-old woman from Lubbock, Texas. An 11-year-old boy and a 7-year-old boy were riding on the ATV when the operator lost control while driving in circles in the yard and crashed into a tree. This caused the ATV to roll over onto the children. Bystanders quickly intervened and freed the children from beneath the vehicle. The release said that the operator was knocked unconscious and sustained serious head trauma.
The release further indicated that the children suffered minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital for evaluation. The ATV operator sustained critical injuries and was also transported to an area hospital due to her injuries.
According to the release, the crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
