At the Barrington 220 Board of Education meeting on May 20, members of the district's Social Media Awareness & Digital Citizenship Advisory Committee presented proposed guidelines for social media and digital citizenship for the 2025-26 school year. These guidelines are designed for elementary, middle, and high school students.

The initiative aims to establish a district-wide process that supports healthy and informed digital citizenship among students. The committee responsible for these guidelines was formed last fall as part of the Health & Well-Being strategic priority in the district's strategic plan, Framework 220.

The committee comprises key stakeholders from across the district, including students, parents, community members, and Barrington 220 staff. It also includes experts in the field.
