The Grant Community High School has announced its May Student of the Month, senior Colin Noordyke. Colin is the son of Tony and Jen Gartner from Volo. His academic accomplishments include being inducted into the National Honor Society during his sophomore year and consistently making the Honor Roll each semester. He has completed eight Advanced Placement courses and maintains a GPA of 5.151.

Colin participates in various extracurricular activities such as baseball, the National Honor Society, Academic Team, Bulldog Leadership Committee, and Math Team. Notably, he secured fifth place in Regionals and qualified for State competition three times with the Math Team.

In addition to his school activities, Colin volunteers as a peer math tutor in the Math Lab and with the Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County (SRACLC), a program supporting individuals with special needs. "He has devoted a lot of time to them and met some really great people," according to the release.

Outside academics and volunteering, Colin enjoys fishing, boating, video games, and spending time with friends. He plans to attend the University of Illinois to pursue an engineering degree while joining various clubs and participating in intramural sports.
