At the regular Board meeting on June 3, 2025, the Mayor and Board of Trustees voted to relax the prohibition on short-term rental properties that had been in place since 2021. The Economic Development Commission discussed proposed rules and regulations over several meetings in late 2024 and early 2025. Owners of short-term rental properties may now apply for the annual business license by contacting the Village's Department of Community Development.

The new regulations allow Airbnb or VRBO-type rentals in residential zoning districts, as well as the Central Business and Commercial Recreation districts. Where a Homeowners Association (HOA) regulates a property, the owner must first seek written permission from the HOA.

The new code prohibits the use of a rental for a party or other event that would disturb the tranquility of a neighborhood. All properties will be inspected prior to issuing a business license. Licenses may be suspended or revoked for violations of the Village code.
