Fremont School District 79’s communication efforts have received national recognition from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).

NSPRA’s Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards recognize outstanding tactical materials such as publications, newsletters, videos, podcasts, websites, social media, and more.

FSD79 was recently bestowed the top honor—Award of Excellence—in three categories. The District earned the recognition in the Newsletter, Video, and Podcast categories.

In the Newsletter category, FSD79 was honored for the Fremont Digest newsletter, which is mailed out to all households within District boundaries twice per year.

Fremont earned the top award in the Video category for its “Experience FSD79” video, which was produced in-house and features voiceover narration by Fremont students. The video offers viewers a glimpse into the school district.

The District’s new podcast for the 2024-25 school year, “Fremont Leads,” was honored as well. Hosted by Fremont Middle School teacher Jacki Mjoen, the podcast shines a light on student leadership and features interviews with Fremont students detailing their experiences within the school and community.

Fremont was additionally recognized with Honorable Mention recognition in the Writing category for its joint letter with Mundelein High School District 120 regarding a proposed residential development that was mailed to the community in Spring 2025.

“We are honored once again to be recognized by NSPRA for our communications efforts,” said FSD79 Director of Public Relations Nick Brilowski. “Clear, regular, and transparent communications with our stakeholders remain a top priority for our school district. We look forward to continuing to develop fresh and innovative ways to tell our story here at Fremont while supporting all learners. ”
