The Gurnee Police Department's Safety Stars & Dilly Bars Back to School Bash is set to return, promising an expanded celebration.

After a successful inaugural year, the event will move to Welton Plaza along Old Grand Avenue in Gurnee. It is scheduled for Friday, August 15, from 5–7 PM. This free, family-friendly gathering aims to unite local Gurnee school districts, police and fire departments, public works, the Mayor of Gurnee, and more in a celebration of back-to-school safety. Attendees can participate in interactive activities, engage with community leaders, and prepare for a safe and successful school year.

Event highlights include:

- New this year: Live music

- Free Dairy Queen Dilly Bars

- Student raffle prizes

- Touch-a-Truck experience

- Interactive booths from local organizations

- Meet and greet with community leaders

Now entering its second year, the event promises increased fun and community spirit.
