The Batavia Police Department is currently seeking new recruits to join its team. The department is looking for individuals who are motivated and ready to serve with integrity, compassion, and pride. Applications are open until 4:00 p.m. (CST) on July 21, 2025, with the test date scheduled for August 2, 2025. There is no application fee.

The starting salary for entry-level police officers is $88,559, with potential earnings up to $122,106 after six years of service. Full-time officers certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board will be placed on the wage schedule based on their previous experience.

Batavia has a population of 26,084 and employs 43 sworn police officers. Officers receive a yearly uniform allowance of $950 and vacation time that increases with tenure—from two weeks after one year to five weeks after twenty years. Employees also receive twelve paid sick days and two paid personal days annually.

The department offers various specialty assignments such as Investigations Unit Supervisor, Youth Services Detective, Traffic Enforcement Officer, S.W.A.T. Officer, Crime Scene Investigator/Evidence Technician, among others.
