Get ready for an eventful July in North Chicago School District 187. The district has planned several activities, including community meetings and student events.

A significant community meeting is scheduled for July 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the NCCHS Library. This meeting invites parents and community members to discuss the demolition of the old Novak King and South Schools. Discussions will focus on cleanup efforts and safety measures. Community input is encouraged regarding future plans for the Novak King land, with options to share thoughts both in person and online.

For students, there are celebrations planned with Chicago Voyagers. On July 2, from 4:30 to 6:00 PM at the NCCHS Library, events will be held for ninth and eighth-grade boys. Seventh-grade girls have their celebration on July 3 at the same time and location. Eighth-grade girls' celebrations are set for July 23.

Cheerleading practice sessions are also available at NCCHS Small Gym (E115). Middle school cheer practices are scheduled on July 5, July 12, July 19, and July 26 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. High school students can attend a cheer camp starting on July 17 through July 19.

Additionally, Dinner on D187 is planned for July 17 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hamlet Park as an opportunity for community connection over dinner.

The IA-FOP Joint Board Meetings will take place online via Zoom on July 1 and July 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Moreover, CCLT Summer Planning will occur on July 28 from10:00 AM to1:00 PM at NCCHS - Peace Room where staff will plan improvements for schools.

The district encourages participation in these events throughout the month.
