Warren Township High School students Keith Jackson and Marcel Hill, members of Gurnee Troop 677 Eagle Scouts, were recognized at a recent Village Board meeting for their accomplishments as Gold Medalists at the 2025 Gold Medal Summit in Washington, D.C. The event honors youth from across the United States who have demonstrated significant commitment to public service and personal development.

To qualify for the gold medal distinction, each student completed 400 hours of public service, 200 hours of personal development, 200 hours focused on physical fitness, and participated in a five-day exploration or expedition. During their time at the summit, Jackson and Hill accepted their medals and engaged in an educational program that included a tour of the U.S. Capitol, meetings with Congressman Schneider, visits to the National Archives Museum and memorials on the National Mall, attending a Washington Nationals baseball game, and networking with other award recipients.

The Village Board officially acknowledged their achievements during Monday night’s meeting. "Please join us in congratulating these outstanding students for their leadership, dedication, and service to the Gurnee community," said village officials.
