Lake Forest College began the academic year by welcoming 394 first-year students in the Class of 2029 and 89 new transfer students as classes started on August 21. The incoming group represents more than 30 states and 47 nationalities. Half of the new class comes from outside Illinois, with international students making up 21 percent, and 43 percent of domestic students identifying as students of color.
The total student body for Fall 2025 stands at over 1,813, with representation from 43 states and 114 countries. Out-of-state students make up nearly half of all enrollees, while international students account for one-fifth. Forty percent of domestic students identify as students of color, and transfer students comprise about thirteen percent of the overall population.

The college continues its efforts to foster diversity and inclusion among its student body.
