The Village of Gurnee has announced that trick-or-treating will take place on Sunday, October 26th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. This annual event encourages families in the community to celebrate Halloween while keeping safety in mind.
In preparation for the festivities, the village is reminding residents of several important guidelines. Community members are advised to stay on sidewalks and streets rather than taking shortcuts through alleyways or across lawns. The announcement also emphasizes the importance of watching for traffic, obeying all traffic signs, looking before crossing streets, and never crossing between parked cars or in the middle of a block.
Children are encouraged to go trick-or-treating with a trusted adult and only visit familiar houses. The guidance further notes that children should not enter anyone’s home during their rounds: "Only go to familiar houses and never go into people's homes. If someone asks you or your child to enter their home, politely decline."
Those distributing treats are asked to remain outdoors and provide individually packaged treat bags for children. Parents are also reminded to check their child's treats before they eat them.
The Village's message focuses on ensuring a safe environment for all participants during Halloween celebrations.
